It also had features that did not translate well to comfortable modern living, so the Durkins made practical changes. The home was originally 1,660 square feet, but they added a little over 1,000. The old and new features flow together harmoniously to create spaces with warmth, texture and a clean but artistic aesthetic. The midcentury modern style craze is still going strong, not just with a cult following for bona fide vintage, but in the mainstream, new production market.
